About the role
Burn is looking for a Tooling Technician who will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and manufacture of sheet metal stamping tools, jigs, and fixtures to support efficient production operations.
The role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, improving tooling performance, and ensuring all tooling activities are carried out safely, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Repair and maintain sheet metal stamping tools, jigs, and assembly fixtures.
Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance
Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and problem-solve at the press with minimal downtime to aid production.
Report breakdown of root causes, equipment faults, and management concerns.
Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations.
Identify spare requirements and maintain inventory levels.
Take ownership of a smaller, less complex specific tool suite to develop and maintain performance with minimal supervision.
Manufacture new press tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support production activity.
Record all relevant data about tooling and record on the Tool Room database.
Understand and operate within basic cost/budget measures for tooling.
Work within the 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain the workplace to a high standard.
Skills and Experience
Ability to operate mechanical workshop machines – Lathe, milling and surface grinder.
Excellent hands-on skills in using hand tools and bench fitting.
Strong understanding of machining processes and materials.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Sound knowledge of Sheet metal tools manufacturing process.
Action-oriented
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
Well organized.
Works well in a team.
About the role
BURN is looking for a CNC Operator who will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high-quality production tools, jigs, fixtures, and prototype components. The role works closely with the Tooling and NPD/NPI teams to ensure precision machining, quality compliance, efficient machine utilization, and continuous improvement of tooling processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up jobs on the CNC Machine
Read and interpret CNC programs and technical drawings.
Generate toolpaths for CNC Machining
Carry out quality inspection for machined parts.
Ensure components meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
Responsible for keeping and updating cutting tool machine inventory.
Scheduling daily machining activities on the CNC Machine.
Working with the NPD & NPI team on tools review before machining.
Machining and prototyping production tools, jigs, and fixtures.
Carry out Autonomous maintenance.
Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations.
Understand and operate within basic cost/ budget measures for tooling.
Work within 5S (Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardise, sustain) methodology to maintain the workplace to a high standard.
Skills and Experience
3+ years of experience in CNC milling machine operation.
Ability to generate both 2D &3 D toolpaths.
Good understanding of at least 1 CAM software (Fusion, Solid Cam, Mastercam)
Experienced in CAD modelling using AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or Solidworks.
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Good interpersonal skills.
Action-oriented.
Mechanical aptitude, ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
Well organized.
