World Relief Kenya is an equal opportunity employer and is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the position of Food Security & Livelihood Volunteer (Agriculture & Livestock - Animal Health), reporting to the Food Security and Livelihood Officer. World Relief implements Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) programs aimed at strengthening household resilience through sustainable agriculture, livestock production, improved animal health services, and climate-smart practices. The volunteer will support livestock and crop-related interventions with a strong focus on animal treatment, community-based animal health initiatives, and resilience building among pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Turkana North Sub-County. Key Responsibilities: Support implementation of agriculture and livestock activities at community level. Assist in animal treatment, vaccination, deworming, spraying, and disease surveillance. Support crop production activities, including establishment and management of demonstration plots. Assist in distribution of agricultural and livestock inputs to targeted beneficiaries. Mobilize community members for trainings, awareness sessions, and animal treatment days. Work closely with Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs), local leaders, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth implementation of activities. Promote best practices in animal husbandry, livestock nutrition, climate-smart agriculture, drought preparedness, and sustainable livelihood approaches. Support inclusive participation of women, youth, and vulnerable households in FSL interventions. Collect routine program data and maintain accurate beneficiary and activity records. Prepare brief field activity reports and support documentation of program progress. Participate in monitoring visits and post-activity reviews. Ensure adherence to World Relief policies, safeguarding standards, accountability principles, and the organization's Code of Conduct. These responsibilities may comprise additional duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal education, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training. Certificate or Diploma in Animal Health, Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture, Livestock Production, or a related field. Practical experience in livestock management and animal health is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively with pastoral and agro-pastoral communities. Basic skills in animal treatment and livestock handling. Good communication and community mobilization skills. Ability to collect basic data and maintain simple records. Strong teamwork, integrity, and willingness to learn. Willingness to work in remote and challenging field environments. Previous volunteer engagement in Food Security and Livelihood programming will be an added advantage. Applicants must possess a valid motorcycle riding licence and demonstrate competence in safe riding practices.
