Key responsibilities: General: Planning, coordinating and supervising all propagation activities. Schedule and managed the plant propagation personnel and maintain detailed records to track crops and propagation methods. Responsible for planning grafting schedule and requesting budwoods from clients based on orders as needed. Manage the team to maintain liner stock and oversee planting maintenance and cultural needs. Supervise, instruct and train the team. Solve irrigation and greenhouse issues for production scheduling for future crop planning. Ensure that the propagation targets are met; quality, reject rates, success rates. Develop programmes for the root stock to ensure availability throughout the season. Crop protection: Developing and implementing effectively the Company Integrated Crop Management Systems (ICM). Climatic control: Ensure that all climatic controls are in optimum working order. Crop nutrition: Develop and implement the drenching, misting and feeding programmes. Ensure audit compliance in areas related to GAPs and environmental audits. Managing propagation teams and ensuring that all employees in propagation are trained on their responsibilities. Preparation of propagation budget, implementation and control. Preparation of Propagation reports/ Developing and ensuring the propagation QMS manual is in place and up to date. Responsible for the safety and maintenance of all equipment and facilities in the unit. Customer: Coordinate schedule of plant orders and deliveries to the schedule and send to the customers. Manage any other tasks deemed necessary or recommended by the General Manager. Key competencies: Attention to detail. Client, quality and results oriented. Computer literate. Fluent in spoken and written English. Educated to degree level in relevant field, with 1-2 years’ experience in similar role. BSc in Horticulture or a related field. A minimum of 2years of management experience in a horticultural field. Good communication and management skills. Experience in irrigation is desired, but not essential. Must have the physical ability to cut and gather cutting stock, lift plants and materials as well as perform other basic nursery tasks. Experience in industry certification.
